This panel is derived from the work of doctoral
students from the PhD-Practice-Program ‘MEDAS21’ (Media
Development Assistance in the 21st
Century), hosted by the University Alliance Ruhr (Technical
University Dortmund, Ruhr-University Bochum and University of
Duisburg-Essen). The papers are manifold, spanning from twenty years
of sustainability in media development based on assessments of radio
projects, to factors influencing journalism in conflicting
environments drawing from experiences in Burkina Faso and the Central
African Republic.
