Rethinking borders and boundaries: Beyond the global/local dichotomy in communication studies

Nairobi, Kenya and wherever you are, 11-15 July 2021

IAMCR's 2021 online conference offers several ways to participate - as an author, a member of a section or working group, a member of IAMCR... Participation is free of charge for all IAMCR members.

Each of IAMCR's 33 thematic sections and working groups, from the Audience Section to the Visual Culture Working Group, has issued its own call for proposals. This article has links to all of them.

IAMCR will make several awards and grants available to its members in 2021: the UCF/IAMCR Urban Communication Research Grant, the IAMCR 2021 award in memory of Stuart Hall, the UNICEF/IAMCR Communication for Development Research Fund, and the Climate Communication Research Award.

To stimulate the use of a broader range of modes for the communication of academic knowledge, IAMCR calls for academic audio and/or visual work to be presented at IAMCR 2021. In particular, we seek podcasts and videos that integrate academic and aesthetic dimensions, and that use sound and/or image creatively to communicate academic knowledge.

IAMCR invites the submission of abstracts of papers and proposals for multi-paper sessions for its 2021 conference. Nairobi2021 will be held online with a regional hub in Nairobi, Kenya. The conference will be hosted by United States International University-Africa (USIU-Africa). Deadline for submission is 9 February 2021 at 23.59 UTC.

The School of Communication, Cinematic and Creative Arts (SCCCA) of the United States International University-Africa is proud to host the IAMCR 2021 conference to be held from 11-15 July.
