It's about life: 50th anniversary exhibition

During the confinement we have experienced in the last few years due to the sanitary crisis. To protect each other, we sheltered inside our homes, distancing ourselves not only from our families and friends, but also from the outside world, pausing momentarily our relationship with our cities and landscapes. For UNESCO, these moments have unfolded into a renewed commitment for living together with our environment and implementing new initiatives for our common future.

Welcome to the exhibition ‘It’s about life!’, a multimedia adventure through the World Network of Biosphere Reserves and their remarkable examples of people living in harmony with their environments.

After 50 years of promoting a harmonious life between people and their environments, there is no better way to celebrate this anniversary of UNESCO’s Man and the Biosphere Programme than by taking you on a journey through the vibrant yet delicate relationship between us and nature.

This exhibition is a collective work by people from over 30 of the 727 UNESCO Biosphere Reserves in 131 countries. With a camera or voice recorder in hand, biosphere reserve managers, members of local communities, researchers, artists and many more, have gathered their stories here to tell you about resilience, sustainability and building our common future.
