Articles submitted for publication in Transformations should generally conform to the MLA Style*. Listed below are some of the key features to keep in mind.

  • Use in-text referencing. Do not use footnotes.
  • Endnotes — A limited number of manually placed endnotes to provide further information is allowed. Do not use footnotes.
    Do not embed endnotes in texts using Word’s endnote facility. They need to be written in manually at the end of the document, and noted in the body of the text as [1] and so forth. Endnote reference should appear at the end of a sentence or paragraph and not in mid sentence.
  • Spelling – retain ‘s’ (and not ‘z’) except in quotations.
  • Keep formatting and emphasis to a minimum.
  • Articles to be single spaced, and left-aligned. Do not justify.
  • No special spacing between paragraphs. Mark paragraph breaks with an extra return key only.
  • Do not use tabs.
  • Emphasis — Use italics for emphasis. Do not use bold or underlining
  • Titles — Use italics for titles instead of underlining.

Quotations

Quotations less than four lines:

  • run these in-text

Quotations four lines or over:

  • run these as a separate paragraph without quotation marks
  • single space;
  • left and right indent by .5 cm;
