Permissions and Subsidiary Rights for University of Michigan Press and other Michigan Publishing Materials

Permission is required to reproduce copyright protected material from Michigan Publishing and University of Michigan Press titles in publications, coursepacks, electronic products, and any other media.

Please check the credit/acknowledgments page and apply to the original source for permission to use the material. This applies to all content including: text, photographs, charts, and illustrations.

If you wish to evaluate our titles for translation, please contact the University of Chicago Press at intlrights@uchicago.edu and they will arrange to send a PDF for review purposes when available. The University of Chicago Press also attends the following international book fairs and acts as selling agent on the behalf of University of Michigan Press: Frankfurt Book Fair, London Book Fair, Beijing Book Fair, and the Guadalajara Book Fair.

Request Permissions and Rights from CCC


Permissions and Republication Subsidiary Rights for many of our titles may be requested through the Copyright Clearance Center (CCC) at www.copyright.com.

  • To find the title easily on CCC please make sure to have the ISBN (International Standard Book Number) of the title for which you are requesting permissions or rights. Your request will usually be automatically approved, otherwise you will receive a response to your request after it is reviewed.

If a non-English Language Teaching title published by Michigan Publishing or the University of Michigan Press is not in the CCC or if the uses requested exceed the options CCC offers:

Electronic File Requests for Persons with Print Disabilities

If you need an accessible electronic version of a book (excluding MICHIGAN ELT titles), you may access or request one through the following channels:

  • Bookshare: Ebook library for individuals with reading barriers and institutions that serve them. Schools or individuals, inside or outside the US, can sign up for an account. Books are available in EPUB, DAISY (Digital Accessible Information System), BRF (Braille Refreshable Format), MP3, and DAISY Audio.

  • RNIB Bookshare: RNIB Bookshare, run by the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB), supports learners with a print disability to access the curriculum. Educational organizations within or outside the UK can join the service. Books are available in EPUB, DAISY (Digital Accessible Information System), BRF (Braille Refreshable Format), MP3, and DAISY Audio.

  • BiblioVault: Scholarly e-book repository. Only disability service providers can sign up for an account. Books may be available in PDF or EPUB.

  • AccessText Network: If you provide Disability Services for a post-secondary educational institution in the U.S. or Canada and need to obtain material for a student with a documented print disability, please place your request on the AccessText Network. If you are not yet a member of AccessText, please sign up for a free membership at www.accesstext.org. Books are available in PDF. English Language Teaching titles are not available through AccessText Network.

  • Michigan Publishing: Organization committed to making its publications accessible to the broadest possible audience. Individuals and institutions may contact us directly. Books may be available in EPUB or PDF.


If you need an accessible electronic version of a MICHIGAN ELT title, you may access or request one through the following channel:

  • Michigan ELT: Division supporting language learning and teaching. Requests for these titles should be sent to esladmin@umich.edu and should include:
