Intellect is committed to ensuring our work is accessible to as many people as possible.

Please read our main page to learn more about Intellect's accessibility commitment and standards

Intellect follows the accessibility guidelines published by the World Wide Web Consortium with the long-term aim of full compliance to Level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1. Both our content and this platform aim to comply with WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines.

For the content on Intellect Discover, we aim to provide products that are accessible to all: We can provide a large number of our books, chapter, journals and articles in accessible, electronic format to people with visual impairments, print disability or other needs. Currently, Intellect provides ePDF and ePub3 for books and ePDF and HTML format for journals. The levels of accessibility depend on the age of the product.

If a work is not available in a suitable format, please contact Jess at [email protected] and we will aim to provide the content in the format you will find most accessible within 1-3 working days. We are happy to receive requests from both individuals and institutions.

Depending on the product type and contracted versions (we will inform you on a case-by-case basis), we will be able to provide the following formats:

  • ePDF
  • ePub3
  • searchable PDF (preferred by most screen reading software)
  • Word
  • HTML
  • XML

Exceptions: Some of our content that is currently only available in PDF format might not have been designed for other, more accessible formats (e.g., there is no underlying XML available). Very old content may only be available as images of text or scanned PDFs. We will always attempt to supply a PDF with optical character recognition (OCR) for screen reading, but this may not always be possible. Texts published before the year 2010 are less likely to be immediately available in electronic format. Newer content will be more adaptable.

Please note, when the purchase of an accessible eBook or journal article is not possible and a request has been made, we require that the requested title has been legally obtained (by either the institution or individual) before we are able to provide the text in alternative formats.
