IAMCR invites the submission of abstracts of papers and proposals for panels for IAMCR 2019, to be held from 7 to 11 July, 2019 at the Complutense University of Madrid, Spain. The deadline for submission is 8 February 2019.
IAMCR recently became a founding member of the “Global Alliance for Social and Behaviour Change Communication – Building Informed and Engaged Societies”, a new network with a mission to: “Advance the scale, quality, impact, and sustainability of communication for development, media for development, social change, and behavioural change strategies.”
Denis McQuail, a truly foundational figure in our field, passed away in June 2017. A special session was held a year later, at IAMCR's 2018 conference, to formally acknowledge and celebrate his scholarly work, his notable character, and his enduring contribution to media and communications research.

It is with great sadness that IAMCR informs its members of the passing of Professor Dipak De following a bout with cancer. Dipak was a longtime member and supporter of the association, having served as a member of the International Council and of the Finance Committee, where he arranged the association's annual audit over a span of several years. In 2015 Dipak was awarded the association's distinguished contribution award.

This message from IAMCR president, Janet Wasko, was recently sent to all IAMCR individual and institutional members. It highlights IAMCR's activities in 2017, presents plans for 2018, thanks members for their continuing support and invites them to renew their membership for 2018.
Following each annual conference, IAMCR conducts an online survey of participants to evaluate how we did and to learn how to make future conferences better. A total of 1,256 participants were invited to complete the survey for the 2017 conference and 637 (51%) responded. Respondents came from 53 of the 67countries represented at the conference.
