1/ IAMCR 2021 NAIROBI, PCR CALL FOR PAPERS – DEADLINE FEBRUARY 9
There is less than two more weeks to submit abstracts for the annual IAMCR conference to be held online from 11 to 15 July, 2021 at Nairobi. The Participatory Communication Research Section’s call for papers has been open since 15 December 2020 and the deadline for submission is 9 February 2021 at 23:59 UTC.
The Participatory Communication Research Section of the IAMCR engages with the theory and practice of participatory communication and is constantly expanding the boundaries through the section’s work. We welcome abstracts focusing on participation from a variety of fields which include, but not restricted to subjects and processes of democratization, communication and information rights, ICTs for sustainable development, health communication, environmental communication, agricultural extension services, folk media and social movements, communication planning activities and interventions, national and cultural identities, community studies and the relationship between participation, empowerment and gender, community radio and participatory video production, non-formal participatory forms of education, participatory rapid appraisals and participatory action research.
This year’s conference theme of ‘Rethinking borders and boundaries’ also allows us to critically engage with the very nature and concept of participatory communication globally as well as locally. It encourages us to think about the very systems which enable or disable participation to occur which is the only way dialogue can be maintained in a democratic environment. The global attention participation as concept has commanded is telling and it is a driver for social change, hence it is imperative to renegotiate and review the limits and horizons. These challenges are very local but needs to be studied globally to further the scholarship and the understanding of participatory communication theory and practice.

2/ GUIDELINES FOR ABSTRACTS AND SUBMISSION
The PCR section encourages the submission of individual papers and complete panel proposals in any of the three official languages of the association (English, Spanish and French).
Abstracts should be between 300 and 500 words. All abstracts must be submitted through IAMCR’s submission platform. Please note that abstracts sent by email will not be accepted.
Authors are requested to submit only one (1) abstract. However, under no circumstances should there be more than two (2) abstracts bearing the name of the same author, either individually or as part of a group of authors. No more than one (1) abstract can be submitted to any section or working group.
Please note that the same abstract or another version with minor variations in title or content must not be submitted to another section or working group. Any such submissions will be considered to be breach of the conference guidelines and will be rejected. Authors submitting them risk being removed entirely from the conference programme.

3/ REGISTRATION AND ACCESS
IAMCR members will be able to register for free to access the full IAMCR 2021 online conference. There will be a small charge (USD 25 to 30) to submit final papers to Online Conference Papers. Non-members will only be able to watch a limited selection of plenaries and possibly a few other sessions.
The deadline for submitting abstracts for Online Conference Papers is 9 February at 23h59 UTC. There is no charge to submit abstracts and you do not need to be a member when you submit an abstract.

1/ CONVOCATORIA DE PONENCIAS PCR, IAMCR 2021 NAIROBI - FECHA LÍMITE: 9 DE FEBRERO
Quedan menos de dos semanas para proponer resúmenes para la conferencia anual IAMCR 2021 Nairobi, que se llevará a cabo en línea del 11 al 15 de julio. La convocatoria de la Sección de Investigación en Comunicación Participativa está abierta desde el 15 de diciembre de 2020 y la fecha límite para enviar propuestas es el 9 de febrero de 2021, a las 23:59 UTC.
La Sección de Investigación en Comunicación Participativa de la IAMCR contempla la teoría y práctica de la comunicación participativa y está expandiendo constantemente los límites, a través del trabajo de la sección. Son bienvenidos los resúmenes que se enfocan en la participación desde distintos campos, lo cual incluye, aunque no se restringe, a sujetos y procesos de democratización, derechos a la comunicación y la información, TIC para el desarrollo sostenible, comunicación para la salud, comunicación ambiental, servicios de extensión agrícola, medios populares y movimientos sociales, actividades e intervenciones de comunicación, identidades nacionales y culturales, estudios comunitarios y su relación con la participación, empoderamiento y género, producción de radio comunitaria y video participativo, formas de educación participativa no formal, evaluación participativa rápida e investigación-acción participativa.
El tema de este año, “Repensar los límites y fronteras” nos permite también involucrarnos críticamente con la misma naturaleza y el concepto de comunicación participativa global y localmente. Esto nos motiva a pensar acerca de los mismos sistemas que posibilitan o imposibilitan que la participación se dé, que es la única manera en que el diálogo puede mantenerse en un ambiente democrático. La atención global que ha suscitado el concepto de participación es reveladora y es un motor de cambio social, por lo que es imperativo renegociar y revisar los límites y horizontes. Estos desafíos son muy locales, pero requieren ser estudiados globalmente para avanzar en el conocimiento y la comprensión de la teoría y práctica de la comunicación participativa.

2/ DIRECTRICES PARA RESÚMENES Y ENVÍO
La Sección de Investigación en Comunicación Participativa invita a proponer ponencias individuales y paneles completos en alguno de los tres idiomas oficiales de la asociación (inglés, español y francés).
Los resúmenes deben ser de 300 a 500 palabras y deberán ser propuestos a través de la plataforma de IAMCR. Los resúmenes enviados por correo electrónico no serán aceptados.
Se solicita a las y los autores proponer solamente 1 resumen. Bajo ninguna circunstancia se debe proponer más de 2 resúmenes con el nombre del mismo autor, individualmente o como parte de un grupo. No se puede proponer más de 1 resumen a una misma sección o grupo de trabajo.
Por favor tomen en cuenta que no debe proponerse en diferentes secciones o grupos de trabajo el mismo resumen u otra versión con cambios menores en el título o el contenido. Se considerará que cualquier presentación de este tipo rompe los lineamientos de la conferencia y será rechazada. Las y los autores que incurran en esto corren el riesgo de ser removidos completamente del programa de la conferencia.

3/ REGISTRO Y ACCESO
Las y los miembros de IAMCR podrán registrarse gratis para acceder a toda la conferencia IAMCR 2021 en línea. Habrá un pequeño cargo (25 a 30 USD) por presentar trabajos en las Online Conference Papers. Quienes no son miembros solamente podrán ver una selección limitada de plenarias y, probablemente, algunas otras sesiones.
La fecha límite para enviar resúmenes para las Online Conference Papers es el 9 de febrero a las 23:59 UTC. No hay cargo alguno por proponer resúmenes y tampoco es absolutamente necesario ser miembro para proponer un resumen.
