Mexico conference to proceed as planned
The spread of the H1N1 virus is being contained and the fear of a massive global pandemic is receding, for which we are all very thankful. IAMCR will keep alert to any further developments, with due regard to the safety of all our members.
But as of now, the IAMCR Executive Board and the Local Organising
Committee in Mexico City are intent that our planned Conference in
Mexico City will go ahead. Our decision is based on WHO and Mexican
Health Office assessments.
In Mexico, universities, schools, parks and
restaurants are reopening their doors as restrictions are lifted, while
at the same time following a series of sanitary measures. You can find
useful information about this in the links below.
In recognition of the concern that the outbreak of this virus raised
about our conference venue and the real difficulties in travelling to
Mexico that have been imposed in some countries, we are extending the
early registration date for one month, till JUNE 15, 2009.
We look forward to a tremendous conference. See you there!
Annabelle Sreberny President, IAMCR |
