Most sessions at IAMCR conferences are made up of individual papers that are grouped thematically by the heads of the IAMCR section or working group they were submitted to. Each author presents their paper and the discussion may focus on individual papers or themes found in two or more papers.
Panel sessions are different in that the grouping of papers is initiated by the authors themselves who get together to make a proposal for a full session with several thematically-connected papers. Panels are used, for example, to present work by authors who have been collaborating over time.
A proposal for a panel must include an abstract for each paper and supplemental information including a panel description and some details about each paper/author. When evaluating a proposal for a panel, reviewers will take into account the overall panel proposal as well as each individual abstract.
Panels for IAMCR 2023 are only possible if an author of each paper intends to present their work at the face-to-face conference in Lyon. Online only or hybrid panels, in which some papers have authors present and others remote, will not be considered.
How to submit a panel proposal
There is a two-step process to submit a panel:
- Submit the individual abstracts in the normal way via the ExOrdo submission site. Panels are normally made up of a minimum of four papers. It is strongly recommended that one person submit all of the abstracts on behalf of all authors. See how to submit on behalf of someone else.
- Submit the panel description and supplemental information via the form below. Supplemental information includes the author’s name and email, the paper title, and the Exordo id# of each abstract. If a paper has more than one author, only one must be identified.
Only submit the supplementary information on this page after all the abstracts have been submitted on the submission site.
