My abstract was accepted. How do I submit my full paper?

Full papers must be submitted at http://iamcr.org/leicester2016/submit. Please follow the instructions carefully.

How do I submit a proposal?

The last day to submit proposals was 15 February 2016.

Can I read other people's proposals?

Yes. All the abstracts accepted for presentation at the conference by IAMCR's 31 thematic sections and working groups are online at http://iamcr.org/leicester2016/accepted-abstracts

When will I know if my proposal has been accepted?

For proposals submitted to the main IAMCR 2016 conference, the Section and Working Group heads will notify you of their decision by 1 April 2016.

What are the key dates regarding submissions?

15 February 2016 - Last day to submit abstracts for papers and panels for IAMCR 2016
1 April 2016 - Deadline to notify authors of abstract decisions

How much is the registration fee?

Conference registration fees are at http://iamcr.org/leicester2016/fees.

What does the registration fee include?

Your fee includes entrance to all days of the conference, lunch and teas and coffee on each day, a welcome reception on the Wednesday night and your participant pack. Accommodation, the Gala Dinner and pre-conference events are not included.

Is there an early bird discount?

Yes – an early bird discount is available until 20 May 2016. Registration fees are published at http://iamcr.org/leicester2016/fees

How can I pay the fees?

Payment of registration fees can be made by credit card. In certain cases we will accept international bank transfers.

How do I register for a pre-conference?

Pre-conferences have their own registration policies and procedures. See the pre-conference's page on this site for more information.

Are any scholarships available?

IAMCR and the local organising committee are offering twenty-six grants of up to US$1,500 to early-stage scholars, who are members in good standing of the association, reside in low and middle income countries and have papers accepted for presentation. The grants can be used to offset travel costs and registration fees. See iamcr.org/leicester2016/travel-grants for more information and to apply online.

Where do I pick up my registration pack?

We have on the day registration available within the Participant Hub on Tuesday and Wednesday. If arriving after Wednesday, there will still be a small desk available for you to register yourself at.

The opening times for the hub, are as follows:

Tuesday: 1pm – 5.30pm

Wednesday to Saturday: 8.30am – 5.30pm

Sunday: 8.30am – 2pm

There will also be a help desk available throughout the event for general queries. Computers will be available for your use – however, you will need to visit the Help desk to get an account to access the computers. Unfortunately, there will be no printing available on site.

FAQ: Visas and invitations

Do I need a visa to visit the United Kingdom?

A valid passport is required for citizens of all countries entering the UK. Citizens of certain countries and territories may also require a visa. I need an official invitation letter in order to apply for a visa. How can I get one?

Once your abstract has been accepted and you need an official letter of invitiation to apply.

Whilst we will send a letter of invitation to support your visa application, it is your responsibility to apply for a visa to attend IAMCR. Further information on the standard visitor visa (this will be suitable for most visitors) can be found here: https://www.gov.uk/standard-visitor-visa/overview. Please note neither IAMCR nor University of Leicester are financially responsible if you are unable to obtain a visa.

Please note that you can only apply for a visa within three months of your date of arrival (i.e around April 27th if you are arriving directly to Leicester immediately before the conference) and visa applications can take around three weeks.

Once your abstract has been accepted and you may need an official letter for funding application. FAQ: Accommodation

What accommodation is available?

We have arranged several options for accommodation at discounted rates.

Accommodation on-campus will be available from £30.00 per night including breakfast. See http://iamcr.org/leicester2016/campus-accommodation

If you book the conference and campus accommodation at the same time, you will not be charged the 20% VAT on accommodation.

Where is the conference taking place?

The conference is taking place at the University of Leicester, University Road, Leicester, LE1 7RH, United Kingdom. Leicester is located in the East Midlands, about 100 miles from London, and is well serviced by train.

FAQ: UK Information

Weather

July is summer in the UK. Average July temperature is around 17 degrees Celsius (63.5 degrees Fahrenheit). Night-time temperatures are lower than daytime. Up to date weather forecasts can be found on the BBC weather website at http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/

Time Zone

The time zone in Leicester in July is British Summer Time (BST) which is one (+1) hour ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).

Banks and Currency Exchange

The currency of England is GBP Sterling (£). You will find cash machines/ATMs on the University campus and nearby. There is also a branch of Santander bank on campus.

Smoking

Since 1 July 2007, smoking is not allowed in any enclosed public places in England (this includes pubs, clubs, restaurants, bus stations, shops etc).

Alcohol

Alcohol may be bought by anyone over the age of 18, with proof of identification.

Customs

There are certain restrictions on what you may bring into UK aside from your own personal effects. There are regulations concerning pets, livestock, firearms, prescription drugs, plants and meat products.
