UQAM - Host of IAMCR 2015IAMCR'S 2015 conference was held July 12-16 2015 in Montreal, Canada. Hosted by the Faculté de communication at the Université du Québec à Montréal, IAMCR 2015 was the first IAMCR conference in North America. The conference theme was: Hegemony or Resistance? On April 27, 2015 a third letter was sent to authors with proposals accepted for presentation at IAMCR 2015. It focused on the May 6 deadline to register at special earlybird rates. Watch your inbox for more letters to come.
On April 11, 2015 a letter was sent to authors with proposals accepted for presentation at IAMCR 2015. It has information about the conference, the availability of abstracts, a request for authors to confirm their participation to their sections or working groups, how to submit full papers, information about registration and membership. More than 1,700 abstracts, by 2,120 authors from 82 countries have been accepted for presentation at IAMCR's 2015 conference in Montreal, Canada. The accepted abstracts are available for download. It is hoped that making them available will contribute to the discussion and collaboration that will take place during IAMCR 2015.
IAMCR members, Colin Chasi, Nyasha Mboti and Viola Milton from South Africa are co-sponsoring an IAMCR preconference, "Towards Participation Studies" in association with the 2015 conference in Montreal. The pre-conference will take place on 11 July 2015 and "is envisaged to be an enabling founding moment in creating and re-creating unapologetic modes of thought and practices grounded in African worlds."
On March 30, 2015 a letter was sent to all authors with proposals accepted for presentation at IAMCR 2015. The letter had information about the conference, including registration and IAMCR membership and how to get an invitation letter for visa purposes. The Association des Étudiants de la Maîtrise et du Doctorat en Communication (AÉMDC) and IAMCR invite graduate students of universities around the world to submit proposals to the IAMCR 2015 Speed Networking Event, to be held on the 13th of July, 2015 at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQÀM).
The draft programme for IAMCR 2015 is now available. The conference will take place over 5 days from July 12- 16. It begins with the official opening ceremony at 17:30 on Sunday July 12. The complete draft programme, including the times of individual presentations, will be published by the end of May. The final programme will be available online by June 29.
The deadline to submit proposals for IAMCR's 2015 in Montreal, Canada (12-16 July) was midnight GMT on 9 February. More than 2,200 proposals were received. Authors will be informed of the decisions on their proposals by 23 March.
The Centre de recherche interuniversitaire sur la communication, l’information et la société (CRICIS) is organising an IAMCR pre-conference entitled News producers and the public interest/Producteurs d’information publique et intérêt public. The pre-conference will take place on 11 July 2015, the day before the main IAMCR conference, at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), the same location as the main IAMCR conference.
IAMCR will make thirteen grants worth up to US$1,500 each available to early-stage scholars, who are members in good standing, reside in low and middle income countries and will be participating with a full paper in our upcoming conference in Montreal, Canada.
IAMCR will make a number of awards and prizes available to its members in 2015. They include a prize in memory of Stuart Hall, an urban communication research grant, travel grants to attend IAMCR 2015, and a new climate communication research award.
