Futures of
Education

A NEW SOCIAL CONTRACT

A global initiative to reimagine how knowledge and learning can shape the future of humanity and the planet.

About the initiative

UNESCO’s Futures of Education initiative aims to rethink education and shape the future. The initiative is catalyzing a global debate on how knowledge, education and learning need to be reimagined in a world of increasing complexity, uncertainty, and precarity.

Thinking together so we can act together to make the futures we want.

The report

Over the course of two years and drawing on the inputs of over a million people, an independent International Commission under the leadership of the President of Ethiopia, Her Excellency President Sahle-Work Zewde prepared a global report on the Futures of Education.

Get involved!

Join the movement!

Share your reactions, ideas and improvements to the report with others.  What do the report's visions and recommendations on each of these dimensions mean for you?  for education in your community? for education across the world?

Organize events, and tell the world what you think!  Publish your ideas on a blog, put them in an op-ed.  Please also send them to UNESCO so we can link to your work  but it's important to also think about who else in you should engage with.  Get organized and get others organized so that education in 2050 helps us shape peaceful, just and sustainable futures for humanity and the planet.
