The School of Communication and Arts supports a number of placement opportunities in its commitment to help students reach their career aspirations. Internships, practicums, field trips and work experience are a great way to gain professional experience, build self confidence and offer the opportunity to make valuable industry connections. Students have previously been placed at many different organisations in Brisbane, interstate and internationally.

Thinking about applying for an internship, fieldwork course or work placement?
The School placements team provides advice and support to SCA students and frequently posts internship opportunities to the JACpot Facebook page.
Please note that students are responsible for identifying an organisation who is prepared to offer them an internship that fits course requirements.
For placements, please contact your course coordinator in the first instance, they will be an excellent source of information for you!
Once you have decided that you are ready to apply for an internship course or work experience related to your studies, please complete and return the Placement Application Form to the Placements Administrator — Mr Sven Fea. You can also direct any general enquiries to the School's placement office via student.commarts@uq.edu.au
COMU3801 Communication Internship
Today’s graduates need to have a practical understanding of the Communications industry and be geared with the skills to stand out in a competitive job market. COMU3801 is designed to make you jobready by supporting you to refine these industry skills. The course will provide you with practical advice from industry professionals to build your skills in applying for paid graduate roles while allowing you to expand your industry experience in a work placement.

ARTT2116 Art and Architecture in Venice
This course explores the art and architecture of Venice. The primary instruction takes place on site in Venice. Within the settings of the city's churches, palaces, squares and museums, students will study art and architecture of the Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque periods. Particular attention is paid to works of art in their original locations, as well as political, religious and social contexts for art and architecture.
