Grants for pre-conference participants

Suzhou by night

IAMCR 2020 pre-conference events will be held at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU), located in the ancient city of Suzhou approximately 70 kilometers west of Shanghai and 4.5 hours by high speed rail to Beijing.

XJTLU will fund 50 grants of up to 2,500 RMB (approximately USD 350) to pre-conference participants to contribute to cost of travel between Suzhou and the main conference location in Beijing, plus local travel and accommodation costs. Grants will be awarded based on the IAMCR criteria for travel grants (early-career scholars, who are members of IAMCR in good standing, reside in low and middle income countries and have papers accepted for presentation at the pre-conference they plan to attend - see details of travel grant criteria). More information will be available when the pre-conference events are announced in February.

XJTLU has a four-star hotel on campus as well as affordable “scholar’s suits” on the south campus that will be available to conference attendees.

Pre-conference events can be organised by individual or institutional IAMCR members alone or in partnership with others. Approved events will be featured on the IAMCR 2020 website, social media and newsletters. They will also promote their association with IAMCR 2020 and encourage participants and speakers to attend the main conference.

For more information or to apply for a pre-conference event, vist the IAMCR 2020 Pre-conference event page. Applications must be submitted by 10 February 2020.
