IAMCR 2020 offers opportunities for IAMCR members and partners to organise conferences, seminars and workshops around the main IAMCR conference. Pre-conferences in China will be held at the School of Film and TV Arts at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) in Suzhou (70 kms. Northwest of Shanghai and 4.5 hours from Beijing by high-speed train) a joint venture founded by the University of Liverpool and Xi’an Jiaotong university. They will be held on 10 or 11 July, or on both days in the event of a two-day event.
Pre-conference events can be organised by individual or institutional IAMCR members alone or in partnership with others. Approved events will be featured on the IAMCR 2020 website, social media and newsletters. They will also promote their association with IAMCR 2020 and encourage participants and speakers to attend the main conference.
XJTLU will fund 50 grants of up to 2,500 RMB (approximately USD 350) to contribute to cost of travel and accomodation of pre-conference participants who are early-career IAMCR members from low and middle income countries. For more information, see Grants for pre-conference participants.
Pre-conference event organisers should submit a formal application for recognition that must be approved by the Conference Organising Committee (COC), made up of members of the Local Organising Committee and IAMCR’s Executive Board.
Applications can be sent at anytime and decisions will generally be made within 3 weeks of reception of a complete application. Once the available capacity is reached, no further applications will be considered. There are limited opportunities for pre-conference events and we strongly recommend that you submit early. No applications will be accepted after 10 February 2020, but there is no guarantee that all applications received before that date will be considered. Once available capacity at XJTLU is reached, no further applications can be considered.
