Ratings and Reviews
Good idea, SLOOOOW AF
This is a brilliant idea as my work ues Vimeo for all our video content. However, the speed uploading is atrocious. I have files that were claiming to need a week or two to upload that are uploading the traditional way in a browser window in 20 to 30 mins. Upload speed needs massive improvments to make this even remotely useful for us.
Also, needs more control over settings, like being able to choose to upload one, two, three, or more files at a time. I suspect things would run smoother if it could just prioritize files based on olderst file in folder first and going one at a time. But if I have to do all that work manually, I might as well upload in the browser.
Honestly do hope the app is imrpoved in the future and would like to try again. But right now it is useless ot me.
Does Not Really Work Well with FInal Cut
I have made several attempts to speak with Vimeo directly about this probem: the new Vimeo connector works very poorly with FInal Cut. When trying to export large projects from FCPX to Vimeo using the new app, Vimeo chokes: a project that takes only about 30 minutes to an hour to upload using the "old fashioned" Vimeo connector in FCPX, now takes OVER 24 HOURS (ie, *never*) to upload using this new Vimeo app. However, Vimeo doesn't recognize this as a problem, despite many attempts to demonstrate it to them over the past year. I would say avoid this applicaton and stick to the built-in Vimeo connector and the Vimeo web page if you want to the best/fastest upload experience with Vimeo.
Very Buggy – Unusable
My first attempt: I was able to open the app and connect to FCPX just fine. But then the Vimeo log-in window remained locked into the lower left corner of my display, and it completely disappeared when I clicked to another app (my password manage) to get my password. I couldn't switch back to Vimeo at all. Had to use acvitiy monitor to quit and restart. After restarting and logging in, the app window once again was stuck in lower left corner. I tried to move it, and the app froze and disappeared. I couldn't restart until quitting again through Activity Monitor. Clicking on app icon does nothing because a Vimeo process is running in background, even though app can't be accessed. Pretty bad first experience...gave up. Bummer :(
